You may have seen recent media reports about a cybersecurity incident involving the Manage My Health (MMH) patient portal.
We would like to reassure you that our practice’s Patient Management System, which securely holds your medical notes, has not been breached.
MMH and Health New Zealand activated a full cybersecurity response as soon as the issue was identified on 30 December 2025. MMH has also engaged independent forensic experts to investigate what happened. The criminal aspects of the incident are being managed by Police, and the Privacy Commissioner and other regulatory bodies have been notified.
Was my information affected?
The incident was limited to a specific documents folder within the MMH portal. Importantly:
- Patient Management Systems were not accessed
- Usernames and passwords were not compromised
- The issue has been identified, contained, and addressed
Who will contact me?
If Manage My Health identifies that your information may have been affected, they will contact you directly and will also notify your General Practice. If you are able to log in to your Manage My Health account, you can also check your status online. A green notification box means your information was not impacted, while a red notification box means your information was included in the breach.
If you receive a notification letter from MMH, it will include details relevant to you, as well as a dedicated 0800 support number for affected people.
