Dr Nigel Kim
MB ChB1988, Dip Obst 1990, FRNZCGP 2014
Despite the surname Dr Kim, I am a New Zealand-bred European who cannot speak any Korean! I completed a double science degree in 1983, married in 1985 and graduated Otago Medical School in 1988, completing additional papers in 1991. I worked for a couple of years as a rural GP in Taranaki followed by 13 years in rural GP practice in Oxford (North Canterbury) where my wife Shelley-Anne and I raised our four children. Since moving to Tauranga in 2005 and completing my RNZCGP Fellowship, I have worked as a family medical practitioner with an emphasis on relational and personalised care to the same standards that I would hope for myself and my family. I have an interest in missions (particularly medical care in the less medically supported areas of the Pacific) and personal interests in propagating native trees, growing edibles and photography, as well as investing into my family and nine grandchildren.
